Welcome to our Myopia Management Program! According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), “Myopia occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea (the clear front cover of the eye) is too curved. As a result, the light entering the eye isn’t focused correctly, and distant objects look blurred. Myopia affects nearly 30% of the U.S. population.”
When Myopia increases year after year, it puts you (or your kids) at risk for blinding eye diseases and can affect their quality of life. Now we can finally do something about it.
Recent studies suggest a straightforward reason for skyrocketing rates of myopia in children: they aren’t spending enough time outside! Before modern times, when children spent most of their time out under the sun, it’s believed that the bright, natural light helped developing eyes focus correctly.
We offer several treatments in our Myopia control program including special glasses and contacts for myopia; Orthokeratology, low doze atropine eye drops and now the MiSight® 1 day daily contact lenses.
We are so excited to be selected as a provider for the MiSight Brilliant Futures Myopia Management Program! The cornerstone of a comprehensive myopia management approach, MiSight® 1 day is a daily wear, single use contact lens that has been clinically proven and FDA-approved to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) when initially prescribed for children 8-12 years old. “This daily disposable soft contact lens is the only FDA approved contact lens that’s clinically proven to slow the progression of nearsightedness aka Myopia!”
